2008 FOALING SEASON UNDERWAY AT PBK

March 17 - Once again, foaling season has arrived and PBK mares are bringing new champions into the world. The filly out of Cleopatra Cons is a half sister to 2 NY Fair Stakes Winners, and the filly out of $100,000 Stakes winner Flavorofthemonth is sure to catch your eye. Breezy Knoll Babe, dam of 2007 NY Fair Stakes Final GO BURGH GO (name in caps & bold), has seen it all before and just wants it to be over with soon. Our mares receive close attention by the PBK team during this very special time of year. We will post foals on the "Broodmares" pages as they arrive.

Honoring Eighteen Karat - Beloved PBK Stallion Passes

February 24 - Eighteen Karat (Crysta's Crown - Tarport Lady Ann) was humanely euthanized today. A long time favorite at PBK and a true friend of the family, neighbors, breeders and trainers who really knew him and his babies. Eighteen Karat was a star of the Ohio Sire Stakes at 2 and 3, with a record of 2, 2:01.4f; 3, 1:57.2 and earnings of $63,406. He was 24 and still liked the girls - at 23 he still covered several mares in spite of painful arthritis, and as always got the job done the right way. While he has never had large books of mares, he is the sire of 117 starters that have earned $1,397,000 to date. His brightest star is GINGER GIRL 4,1:54.4f ($246,519), multiple NYSS winner, multiple Open winner, and 2006 Season's Champion Aged Trotting Mare and Tioga Downs Track Record holder. Other accomplished performers include multiple NYSS winner SEAWAY SHANE 6,1:57f ($232,994), BREEZY KNOLL BABE 3, 2:04.3h ($43,576), LAURA JONES 4,1:58.2m ($30,410), BREEZY KNOLL ELITE 3, 1:59 ($38,604), and TWENTY KARAT 4, 1:56 ($21,187). Eighteen Karat will still have three more crops to carry on his memory at the races. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

To Parks Breezy Knoll

Where in this wide world can man find nobility without pride,
Friendship without envy,
Or beauty without vanity?
Here, where grace is served with muscle
And strength by gentleness confined
He serves without servility; he has fought without enmity.
There is nothing so powerful, nothing less violent.
There is nothing so quick, nothing more patient.
~Ronald Duncan, "The Horse," 1954

New York County Fair Finals at Monticello on Monday, September 10 -- 09-11-2007

September 10 - Continuing his successes on the NY Fair circuit, Air Mail Hanover proved once again that he is without a doubt the best trotting sire value in New York by sweeping the colt divisions of the NY County Fairs Finals at Monticello today. Go Burgh Go (Air Mail Hanover - Breezy Knoll Babe) won the 2 year old colt division for owners Ed Fitzpatrick, Richard Moran, Robert Hankle, and Vincent Tancredit/ Starting from post 3, Go Burgh Go got a nice two-hole trip until the stretch, when he passed a breaking Howlin Wolf to win by one length in 2:07.4 for driver Eric Felter and trainer Theresa Bantle. In the 3 year old colt division, Air Louie won convincingly wire-to-wire in 2:01 by one length for Yonkers stalwart driver Stephane Bouchard. Trained/owned by Tracy Brainard for co-owner Scott West, Air Louie won for the fourth time on the County Fair circuit this year. Other PBK-sired starters in the Fair Finals included A Bag of Karats and REL Postage Due.

Clearly, PBK sired horses compete well with horses sired by bigger NY farms when given the opportunity. Give Air Mail Hanover a look when making your 2008 breeding decisions!

PBK Sires Have Another Fine Showing at Palmyra Fair

August 13, 2007 - PBK sired horses won three races today at the Palmyra Fair, continuing a very successful season on the NY Fair circuit. I'm Max, a Big Z Crown - Lizzie Marvel 2 YO gelding, won a NYCFSS for owner Dale Lawton and trainer Chris Lawton in 2:13. Next, Eternally Eighteen (Eighteen Karat - Eternal Superstar) won a 3YRNYCFSS in 2:06.3 for trainer Michael Giannico and driver James Bailey. Mitleh Hadeed (Big Z Crown - Herbal Essence) won his 2YRNYCFSS in 2:15 for owner/trainer/driver Chris Lawton.

2007 PBK Pari-MutuaelStars Shine

July 27,2007 - Not only are PBK racehorses making an impact at the NY Fairs, but several are also racing impressively at parimutuel tracks this summer. No discussion about accomplishments of PBK racehorses should begin with any horse other than the great Ginger Girl (Eighteen Karat - Ginger Miss). Ginger Girl keeps competing at the very highest levels of NY overnight racing. This year, she is 20 - 6 - 6 - 1 with earnings of $63,605 and a seasonal mark of 1:55.2 at Vernon. She has won four Opens (three straight at Vernon) and two Preferreds. She has held the Track Record of 1:54.4 at Tioga. Lifetime, Ginger Girl is 70 - 24 - 14 - 11 with earnings of $230,999. She is trained/owned by Claude Huckabone, and co-owner Casey Miller. She was bred by Carol Ann Bryant.

Mimi's Bono Best (Pro Bono Best - Grade A) is developing into a hard hitting 3 year old pacer for trainer Nick Giberson and owners Lee & Linda Devisser. To date in 2007, Mimi's Bono Best is 9 - 5 - 2 - 0 with earnings of $33,116. His 1:53.3f mark was taken in a 7/22 overnight at Tioga, when he won wire-to-wire by 3 lengths. He also was 2nd by a head in the $55,412 NYSS at Monitcello on 7/11, timed in 1:55.2.

REL Free Delivary (Air Mail Hanover - Golden Crown) has been a reliable resident of the Jay Stewart barn at Saratoga for owner Kilmer Heighton. This year, REL Free Delivary is 18 - 4 - 2 - 2 with earnings of $12,987 (lifetime $20,790). He just took his lifetime mark at Saratoga on 7/20 in 1:58.4.
